The guitar occupies an essential place in jazz being both a rhythm and melodic instrument. Timmy Allan recreates the music of one of the greats, Jim Hall. The American guitarist and composer was a masterful improviser with an unerring sense of melodic development, and the band will play his 1975 album Concierto as well as some surprises. In an opening set, the acoustic guitar duo of Malcolm MacFarlane and Ross Milligan play lush, textured compositions with extraordinary sensitivity.
