Joe Robson: Home | Sekoya
Sat 22 Mar, 2-4pm
St Bride's Centre, Dalry
Home is the debut album from Edinburgh-based guitarist and composer, Joe Robson. A celebration of roots, identity, and belonging, the music explores the meaning of ‘home’, not just as a place, but as a state of mind. With folk and rock influences, his stellar band features Matt Carmichael (saxophone), Dan Brown (piano), Ali Watson (bass), Greg Irons (drums) and Charlie Stewart (fiddle).
Sekoya is an interdisciplinary trio combining harmonic influences from European music and American jazz with articulate rhythms and decisive grooves to create a genre-defying musical entanglement. Vibrant Celtic-inspired piano melodies are interwoven with flowing bass lines over a foundation of propulsive drums creating an almost cinematic sound. The trio are Simon Toner (double bass), Gavin Lamont (drums) and Luke Cunningham (piano) and together they create a singular sonic spirit that focuses on energy and improvised interplay. Sekoya will be playing music from their recently released album Shuna.
