Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

Our Commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

The principles of EDI are embraced throughout the organisation, extending from the Board of Trustees to staff and volunteers. There is a shared belief and commitment to actively implementing these values in the day-to-day operations of the company. Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival acknowledges that its primary objectives can only be fully realised if EDI principles drive all aspects of project inception, delivery, and development. The company regards diversity as its greatest strength, valuing all members of our communities for their unique perspectives and contributions. Our commitment to EDI enables us to propagate the idea that diversity is inextricably linked to creativity, maintaining the belief that a diverse workforce, programme, artists, and participants contribute positively contribute to our creativity and innovation. Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion form the foundation of Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival's project planning, management, delivery, and organisational culture. We also produce and deliver a number of projects that have the ethos of EDI at their very heart: The Art of Inclusion, an international talent development programme for learners of colour, disabled individuals, neurodiverse students, and those identifying as LGBTIQA+. Edinburgh Festival Carnival and its associated workshop programme are large-scale inclusive projects that champion global majority communities and provide a world class stage for these communities to celebrate their heritage and identities.
