The EJBF Community Band (formerly GD Jam) is an open-access community band that welcomes participants of all ages and abilities. It provides a relaxed space for people to come together and enjoy collective music-making in a supportive environment.

It is completely free to participate.

Held at St Bride’s Centre (10 Orwell Terrace, EH11 2DZ) sessions are designed to accommodate a wide range of musical experiences, from beginners to more advanced players. 

It’s important to note that at the Community Band we don’t teach you to play your instrument but the group performs specially arranged music tailored to the abilities of all members, ensuring that everyone can participate meaningfully, regardless of musical background.

Each session includes a warm-up, rehearsals of the term’s chosen repertoire, and can often include some musical development exercises such as learning pieces by ear.

The upcoming term will conclude with a final performance at the Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival 2025 for the participants to showcase their hard work.
